Hey Everyone! I know you've all probably heard about the Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and the horrible, awful, racist comments he made, which are apparently only the latest of years of racist comments. Well, you know me so of course I have something to say about it. May I present to you: the second installment of "Should You Care?"

Hey Guys! First of all, thank you so much for the great response about my first "Should You Care?" video! I'm super excited to keep sharing my opinions about everything under the sun, so keep reading the blog, or you can see all my videos at my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpK-xW9HtZDxa7vYJfWhdIg This week's throwback photo takes me back to my child modeling days. Did I ever mention that I was a child model? Well, I was. I did a lot of catalog work for stores such as Sears and JC Penny's, as well as a local chain in Portland called Fred Meyer. I don't even remember which store this photo was for, it's kind of all a blur to be honest! Isn't it funny how the two girls in the photo are facing forward and smiling at the camera and the two boys can't seem to get it together? Typical! Hahaha! Well, I hope everyone has a good weekend & I'll catch up with ya next week!
Hey Guys! I hope you had a nice weekend celebrating Easter or Passover or whatever else you choose to celebrate! I had a low-key, relaxing weekend. The weather was pretty nice here in NYC so I spent a lot of time outdoors walking around and hanging out with friends. I also decorated Easter eggs because I've always loved to do that, check out a few of my designs: Pretty fancy schmancy, right? Well that's how I roll people! And yes, it is hard to color eggs with hooves instead of fingers, but as you can see I manage just fine. So today I have something new to debut, which will become a regular feature on the blog. It's a video segment which I call "Should You Care?" You see, I tend to have very strong opinions about things and I'm not afraid to voice them. Up until now I have kept this blog fairly neutral but I'm coming up on my one year anniversary as a blogger and I think it's time I spiced it up a little bit. The "Should You Care?" videos will be simple: in each one I'll discuss a current event and tell you whether you should care or not. The first video is on the subject of equal pay for equal work, and you better believe I have something to say about THAT! So that's it for now folks. I'm always up for a good debate, so if you disagree with my opinions then leave a comment below or send me an e-mail. But just be ready for me to disagree right back - hahaha! Have a good week!
Hey Guys! You know I love holidays and one of my favorites is coming up: Easter! I gotta be honest, I love it mostly because I love Easter candy - Cadbury Eggs, peeps, jelly beans - it's all so delicious! I have a really cute Throwback picture to share, I think I was about three, and my Mom dressed me up like a little bunny and took me to an Easter egg hunt. Well, I ended up finding more than just eggs, check it out: Can you believe it? A little bunny hopped right by me! I wanted to take it home but my Mom said we couldn't because its home was outside. Oh well, just glad Mom snapped this photo of the bunny and me, it's just so cute! And the bunny ain't bad either - hahahahaha! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Hey Everyone! You'll never believe what I saw when I woke up this morning: snow! Not a lot, but there was definitely snow on rooftops and cars here in Brooklyn on April 16th. Weird! We have had quite a winter here in NYC, but it seemed like it was all done, so waking up to see snow was definitely pretty weird. And just for fun, I decided to put together a top 10 list of random weird things in this world, some of which I have experienced and some of which I have not. 10. Stinging Nettle Eating Contest: Apparently there's an annual contest in Dorset, England to see who can eat the most stinging nettle. I have definitely not done this one - I'm not nuts! 9. Riding Citibikes with Leonardo DiCaprio: Loyal blog readers will remember this one: I was riding my Citibike around Tribeca last summer and encountered Leo, also riding a Citibike! How weird is that?! What's the guy doing riding a rental bike? You'd think he could afford to buy his own..... 8. Dry Pork & Seaweed Donut: You can apparently find this at Dunkin' Donuts in China. As much as I love donuts I think I'll pass on this one. 7. Daniel Day Lewis in "Nine": This one pains me to say, because Mr. Day Lewis is one of my favorite actors, and will go down in history as one of the finest actors EVER, and I don't actually think his singing voice was that bad.......but I nevertheless found it weird to watch him singing and prancing around in this movie. Judge for yourself: 6. Naked Cowboy: The Naked Cowboy is legendary. He's in Times Square posing with tourists almost everyday, rain or shine. I've even seen him there in 30 degree weather, I'm not sure how his "you know what" doesn't freeze off! And yes, as you can see, I posed with him once too, he may be weird, but I couldn't resist! 5. Overalls Back in Style: I know that fashion trends are circular so everything eventually comes back in style, but I was caught off guard when this one actually started happening. Congrats farmers across the country: for the next few months you're gonna be at the height of fashion! 4. Pet Rock: I know this one hasn't been popular in a while, but apparently in the '70s 1.5 million pet rocks were sold. I think that's pretty darn weird. 3. Bagel Head: There's a trend in Japan where you get saline injected into your forehead so it looks like you have a bagel (or in this case 2) in your forehead. What the what?!?! 2. Groundhog Day We have a lot of weird traditions in this country, and Groundhog Day is definitely one of them. We look to this little rodent in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to tell us if we'll have a longer winter, or if Spring is coming. As weird as it is though, the little guy sure was right this year so maybe it's not so weird after all! 1. Me! If I'm doing a list of weird things in this world, I gotta include myself! I know a lot of people think it's weird that I'm a walking, talking mule, but I celebrate the fact that I'm weird! I'd hate to be average and boring, whatever that means. I think that in honor of our weird weather, I dedicate April 16th as National Weird Day. Weird is good, and I encourage everyone to go out and celebrate what makes YOU weird! Have a great day weirdos all over the world!
Hi Everyone! Sorry it's been a few days since I've posted on the old blog, but I promise it'll be worth the wait! As you know, I'm from Portland, and so it's no surprise that Portlandia is one of my favorite shows. Fred and Carrie are both geniuses and I practically pee my pants laughing at every episode, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when my agent told me that I had been chosen to take part in a Portlandia-themed photo shoot. You're probably thinking "what the heck is a Portlandia-themed photo shoot?", so I'll tell you. Portlandia is all about showing all the different extreme characters that make up the city of Portland, and we recreated some of those characters and shot them in locations all over Portland. That's right, they flew me out to Portland a couple weekends ago - what a blast! All right, enough talk, here are the pics, starting with the outdoorsy hiker archetype: We shot that up in Forest Park, which, by the way is the largest naturally forested area within a city in the United States. Just a little trivia for ya. Pretty gorgeous, huh? Notice my Keens shoes too - very popular in Portland! The next character is the hipster, and you can see that we did some gender bending here, just like Fred and Carrie do on the show: We did the hipster shoot in a hipster-type bar because, well, hipsters love to drink I guess. That beard was very itchy, by the way, I don't know how these hipster dudes do it! The next character is the fanatical Portland bike rider. This one we based pretty closely on the Portlandia character Spike, right down to his ear plugs. But don't worry, those and the nose piercings were fake, I'm not that dedicated to my art. I love this next one, it's the hippie, Earthy woman archetype, based on the bookstore ladies, Candace and Toni. Those ladies might be my favorites of all the Portlandia characters and I have to say that this outfit was definitely the most comfortable. Those Earthy hippie ladies know what it's all about when it comes to comfort! And special thanks to the Knutson family in SE Portland for letting us shoot in their backyard. What a beautiful garden, wouldn't you say? And in contrast to the loose layers of the hippie lady, this final character had some pretty binding and uncomfortable clothes. It's the punk: We shot this outside the Ash Street Saloon in downtown Portland. It's a popular dive bar which has live music seven nights a week. I got a lot of attention for this one, definitely the most of all the looks. I'm not so sure about the piercings but I'm thinking of keeping the red mohawk, do you think I can pull it off? Just kidding - hahahahaha!
Anyway, thank you so much to the team at Blasted Glass Magazine for picking me to participate in this shoot and the amazing photographer Jerrica Smouthers for being so great to work with. Look for the photos to appear in the May issue of Blasted Glass, found at independent magazine shops and bookstores across the country. Have a good weekend everyone and catch y'all next week! Hey everyone! Just a quick post today, I came across some images from a photo shoot I did last Spring at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden that I don't think I ever shared. I love the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and this photo shoot took place when the daffodils and cherry blossoms were in full bloom - one of the most beautiful times of the year at the garden for sure. Here's a few of the pics from that shoot: The shoot was with Brooklyn photographer Blaine Termus, who was awesome to work with. I can't wait to visit the garden this Spring, and maybe do another photo shoot. And speaking of photo shoots, I have one coming up that I am beyond excited about, but that's all I can say about it for now. You'll just have to keep checking in on the blog and in the next couple of weeks it'll be revealed! Have a great weekend everyone!
