And speaking of margaritas, now that we all know the history behind the holiday I think it's time we joined in the celebration. Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone, go get yourself a margarita!
Hola Everyone! Are you planning on doing anything to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? I know a lot of people will probably have a photo that looks similar to mine - big hat, big margarita. This was from a few years ago and as you can see that the drink is actually the size of my head! I don't remember if I finished it all by myself but I definitely gave it my best shot! And I also probably stood on the table and sang mariachi music, after a margarita that big who really knows? Hahaha! Since most people just associate Cinco de Mayo with drinking too much tequila I want to take a second and explain what it's all about. Contrary to popular opinion, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day, that's on September 16th. Cinco de Mayo originated in Mexican American communities here in the US to commemorate Mexico's unlikely victory against the French in the battle of Puebla in 1862. Apparently Mexico had only 4,000 troops to France's 8,000 but somehow pulled off the victory. I think they all deserved a nice cold margarita after that, don't you?
