Hello All! Did you have a good weekend? My weekend was fab! On Saturday night I got the chance to see one of my favorite plays, "The Glass Menagerie," by Tennessee Williams on Broadway! What a thrill! It was a spectacular production, which just left me in tears by the end. The play is special to me because I portrayed the character Laura in a production once. Not to toot my own horn too much (though isn't that sort of the purpose of a blog? Hahahahaha!) but I got rave reviews portraying the shy, crippled girl. One critic said he'd never seen a Laura more lovely or more crippled than mine. I spent most of the play crawling, just to give you an idea. Anyway, seeing the show made me nostalgic, so I pulled out my old costume from the closet, and now I'm going to give you a little taste of what it was like to see my version of Laura. Enjoy!

Hey Guys! So as you know, I'm a performer, and a big part of being a performer is doing all kinds of crazy jobs. We don't always know where our next paycheck will come from, so we often just say yes to whatever comes our way. I have had many such jobs, and I wanna share some of these memories with my loyal readers so I decided to introduce a new segment here on the blog: That's right people, check out the blog on Thursdays and if I'm able to I'll post a photo from some crazy job I had in the past. I wanna kick this off right so my first Throwback Thursday pic is a good one. You remember those workout videos from the 80's where all the women wore high cut leotards, white high top sneakers and leg warmers? Of course you do and you probably know where I'm going with this. That's right, I was in one and here's the proof: Ok, ok, I'm sure you're busting a gut laughing but I think I'm rockin' that leotard pretty well, wouldn't you say? The shoot was super fun and I got paid nicely so I was laughing too - all the way to the bank! Hahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone & catch ya next week!
Oh my God you guys I was just walking down the street and look at this strange new product they are advertising at the cupcake shop Crumbs: What the huh? Now I know doughnuts and I know croissants and I've even heard of cronuts, which is a mash up of the two, but apparently Crumbs wants to call their version Crumbnuts. Quick question - does a Crumbnut sound appetizing to anyone out there? It sure doesn't to me. Whether it's a nutty crumb or a crumby nut I don't want it. Hey Crumbs advertising executives: Seriously guys? If you think people are gonna walk into your store and order "cream filled Crumbnuts" you got another thing coming! On top of the nutty crumb issue don't you realize your word is a little too close to "numbnuts?" I guess you didn't, which makes you all a bunch of......wait for it......... NUMBNUTS! Hahahahaha!
Hey Everyone, happy Monday! Were you excited for the Emmy Awards last night? You bet I was! I just love awards shows so much. The glitz! The glamour! The throwback to Old Hollywood! I can't get enough. I'm sure you all remember how excited I was to attend the VMA Awards (seen here: http://www.applesthemule.com/1/category/vmas/1.html) last month so you must be wondering what I wore to watch the Emmys. Well, I won't make you wait any longer, here it is: Yep, there I am, decked out to the nines in a tank top and shorts. Hahaha! It is super fun going to awards shows but I secretly like this a little better. It's a little more comfy, you know what I mean? And yes, that is a beer and a chocolate bar you see in the photo. I like to indulge a little every now and again. Unfortunately I'm just a small little mule and that was a regular sized beer so I don't think I have to spell out what happened. But luckily Junes took a photo so you can see for yourself: Yep, I passed out and missed most of the show. Oopsies! Oh well, I saw the best part anyway, which is, of course, the red carpet. Here are a few of my favorite gowns of the night. Do you agree with my choices? If not, drop me a line & tell me who your favorites were. Have a wonderful week! Hey Guys! Has everyone seen Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" video? I'm sure most of you have, she's gotten a hundred and nineteen MILLION hits on youtube! Pretty freakin' crazy, huh? You know I got the chance to meet Miley a few weeks ago (as seen here: http://www.applesthemule.com/1/post/2013/08/vmas.html) and I wish her nothing but the best but I gotta say I think she stole from me! I'm referring specifically to the first image that was used to promote her video, seen here: There's something you may not know about me, which is that I used to be somewhat of an anarchist. I had a lot of anger and I directed it towards "The Man." There was one incident from a while back where this old Mom and Pop soda shop was going to be demolished to make way for luxury condos. A few of us went down to the site and chained ourselves together to prevent this from happening. The police came down and started arresting us, but I broke free and climbed up on the wrecking ball. A passerby took this photo, which ended up getting circulated around quite a bit: Am I crazy or are these pretty darn similar? It's ok Miley, I forgive you for borrowing a page from my life, all I ask for is a piece of the profit! Maybe two or three million and I won't take you to court. Just kidding. Hahahaha! Anyway, no hard feelings Miley, keep on keepin' on, but I do recommend underwear next time you're gonna sit on a wrecking ball - that sucker was cold! Have a great day everyone!
Hey Everyone! I'm back from my weekend camping adventure in the Catskills and I feel completely refreshed and recharged and ready to tackle whatever comes my way! I don't think I have mentioned this before, but I am an avid Yogi and one of my favorite moments of the trip was when I was able to take some time for myself and practice yoga in the woods. I was so into my meditation that I didn't even know that Junes snapped these photos until later! For anyone who has never practiced yoga I highly recommend taking a class or trying some moves at home. I know the poses I'm doing may look complicated, but there are plenty of ways to incorporate yoga into your day without too much of a time commitment. In fact, this gives me an idea: I'm going to do a blog post about yoga! Look for that in the next couple weeks, and in the mean time don't try these at home, I'm an extremely flexible mule and I wouldn't want anyone to hurt themselves! Have a Happy Tuesday!
Hello my wonderful readers! I hope you've been having a fabulous week. It started off slowly for me but then got really nuts really quickly with meetings and auditions and gigs. Plus the temperatures rose to 90 degrees and humid here in NYC so this little mule got pretty stressed out! Luckily I have a relaxing weekend planned. I'm going to be heading up to go camping in the Catskills. No internet, no phone, just a couple days of hiking and chillin' out in nature. And speaking of nature, I wanted to share some images from the second photo shoot I did when I was on vacation in Oregon last month. The first was a woodsy hipster photo shoot, (seen here: http://www.applesthemule.com/1/post/2013/08/woodsy-photoshoot.html) and this one was on the beach. I worked with the amazing photographer Deiter Heimmlich, and not to toot my own horn but I think you'll agree that the results are pretty amazing. Enjoy & have a great weekend! Hi everyone, today is a very important day here in NYC, it's the primaries! I'll be heading out to the polls later today and casting my vote. And just to nip the questions in the bud, yes, mules are allowed to vote if they're New York City residents like me. I encourage everyone in the NYC area to go and make your vote count, unless you're voting for somebody I'm not then stay at home! Hahahaha! Just kidding of course.....sort of. Well that's all from me for now. Have a good day everyone and make your "Uncle Apples" proud and go vote!
Guess what readers? Today is your lucky day because I'm bringing you another edition of.... Dear Apples, You seem like you live such an exciting life hobnobbing with celebs! What has been your favorite encounter so far? -Edward Snog Hi Mr. Snog! I guess doing this blog and emphasizing all the exciting stuff that happens to me makes it seem like it's all glitz and glamour but believe me I go to Walgreens and buy toilet paper just like everyone else. Speaking of which, I'm up for a toilet paper commercial next week - Charmin Bear you better watch your back! Hahahaha! You're right that I have had a fair share of celeb encounters, and this is definitely my favorite so far: Yes, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tom Cruise! It was purely by coincidence, I was walking in Los Angeles last May and just so happened to pass by the premiere of "Oblivion." I'm a huge Tom Cruise fan so I decided to squeeze in the crowd (one benefit of being small!) and see if I could catch a glimpse. Mr. Cruise was being so gracious with his fans and taking pictures and signing autographs and you can see how lucky I got! Now one question - am I standing on a crate to reach Mr. Cruise's level or is he even shorter than everyone thinks he is? I'll never tell! Hahahahaha! Dear Apples,
I noticed that sometimes you wear clothes in your photos and videos and sometimes you don't. What's the deal with that? Are you a nudist? -Hillary Browning Hi Hillary, thanks for you question. I know, it's a little confusing. Here's the deal though: I have fur all over my body so I have the luxury of looking at clothing as optional while still maintaining my modesty. I love fashion and playing dress up but it's nice to be able to just leave the house au natural as well. So no, I am not a nudist but there's certainly nothing wrong with it and in the spirit of appreciating nudity I'll leave you today with a few humorous cartoons about nudist colonies. You're welcome! Hey Everyone! I hope you had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend! I absolutely did. On Sunday I went a Yankee game, as seen in the photo below: Check out my custom hat with the holes in the sides for my ears! Ya gotta be crafty when you're a mule shopping for clothes in a human's world. Unfortunately the Yankees lost to the Orioles but I had a fabulous time and ate way too much cotton candy and Cracker Jack. And now, for your viewing pleasure I will perform an interpretative reading of that old classic "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." You may ask why the heck I'm doing an interpretative reading of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and to that I say why the heck not?! Hahahaha! Enjoy! |
