And now for my Throwback picture. In addition to watching many shows at The Delacorte I have also gotten the chance to perform in a Shakespeare in the Park production. It was 3 years ago, and the show was "Into The Woods," starring movie star Amy Adams and Broadway Legend Donna Murphy. Check it out:
Hey Guys! It's time for Throwback Thursday! Every summer here in NYC there are a lot of amazing outdoor concerts and dance and theater performances, but one of the most coveted tickets is for Shakespeare in the Park at The Delacorte Theater. You can't buy a ticket to Shakespeare in the Park (unless you're richy rich and you contribute a bunch of money), you have to either wait in line to earn your seat or enter the online lottery and pray you'll be one of the chosen few. Sometimes for the really popular shows people sleep on the street so they can be at the front of the line. I did that once and it was an interesting experience that I hope to never repeat. The show that is currently playing in the park is "King Lear" starring John Lithgow. I was lucky enough to win tickets in the lottery last Sunday and it was an amazing show and an incredible performance from Mr. Lithgow. I believe it closes on Sunday but if you're in the NY area go wait in the line or try for the lottery - you won't regret it! Check it out: It was one of the thrills of my life, the entire cast and crew were a blast to work with and there is something so amazing about doing a show outside, in the elements, where anything can happen. Some days it was sweltering hot, some days it rained (and that doesn't necessarily stop the show, by the way), and there were a couple of raccoons who lived in the park and who apparently wanted to be in the show too because they would wander out on stage from time to time. Shakespeare in the Park - I will miss you but I'm looking forward to discovering the LA equivalent!
