As an performer I always like to freshen up my material, so I'm constantly learning new songs and monologues. Today I want to share the new monologue I'm working on, which is from one of my favorite movies, "Waiting For Guffman." If you haven't seen this movie I highly suggest you run and get it right now! It's so hilarious and everyone in it is a comedic genius, but I particularly love Parker Posey. She's so unique and funny in every film she's in, but what she does in "Waiting For Guffman" is on a whole other level! This monologue doesn't appear in the film itself, but if you get the DVD you'll see it in the extra scenes, it's Parker's character's audition to be in the show. Anyway, here's my rendition, hope you enjoy!
Hey Everybody! Boy that Superbowl was something else, right? I wanted the Seahawks to win and everything, but jeez, it was like the Broncos didn't even show up! And that Broncos kicker in particular didn't seem to have a lot of juice, maybe they should have called me - hahahaha! Hey Dudes! How's it going? Hope everyone had a good weekend! I have a cool video to share with you today, it's me auditioning for a role in an upcoming feature film! Most everyone knows that actors have to audition for their roles, but you may not know that sometimes those auditions don't take place in person. Sometimes the people auditioning are in a different city so you have to tape yourself doing the scene and send it to them. I had to tape an audition recently because the producers are out in LA, and I wanted to share it with you all. It's for a film called "Big Sky" and I read for the role of Rosie Mae, a prostitute who falls into a forbidden love affair with a local farmer named Pete. It takes place in the old west and will be shot on location in Montana next summer! How exciting, right? Here's my audition: Wow, watching that back it seems a little depressing! I didn't get a full copy of the script so I'm not sure what happens in the end but I hope those crazy kids work it out. Maybe they can just move to the next town over or something, there's gotta be a way! If I get the role I'll certainly suggest that and they better listen to me or else! Hahahaha - just kidding! Have a great week everyone!
Hey Everyone! It's Thursday so you know what that means........ I've got a good one for you today. A few years back I was doing some regular extra work as a nurse on General Hospital. It was super fun, the director even gave me a couple lines here and there because he thought I was so fantastic and professional. All you General Hospital viewers might remember that there was a big fire that burned the hospital down and here's a photo of me in my nurse's scrubs on the burning set: Don't worry, I was perfectly safe. The fire was completely contained and there were big strong firefighters everywhere! I almost wanted to pretend to be in trouble so one of them would come rescue me - hahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone, see ya next week!
Hey Guys! Sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, I was recovering from the New York City marathon. Boy is it exhausting watching those runners run - hahahaha! Today I'm super excited to share with you all my brand spanking new voice over demo reel. For all you non-performers out there, a voice over demo reel is similar to an acting reel, (click on the "acting reel" page to see mine!) but it's just your voice, so it helps you get work doing voice overs in commercials, radio spots, etc. I get compliments on my voice all the time, so I decided that it would be fun to pursue this kind of work. Click below to listen to my demo reel (and view a few of my headshots and modeling shots while you're at it). Have a great Tuesday everyone! Hello again, I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day Weekend! Wait a minute, isn't that an oxymoron? If we were gonna spend the Memorial Day weekend appropriately it probably should have involved solitude, reflection, maybe some tears.....anyway, you knew what I meant. And screw you if you didnt! Hahahahhaha! I went down to Ocean City, Maryland with some friends for the weekend. We had a fabulous time going on rides and stuffing our faces. In that order of course. We also spent some time lying on the beach and I dipped my hooves in the freezing cold water. It was a good time had by all. Anyway, now it's back to the grind. I have a couple auditions coming up this week and a photo shoot over the weekend. I'm always interested in building my portfolio so if anyone reading this wants to take some pictures message me and let's set something up! And now, since it was just Memorial Day, I'd like to leave you with a little clip of me singing the chorus of Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American." Enjoy! Hello everyone and welcome to my website and blog! My name is Apples Minsprod and I'm an actress, model, and singer who lives in Brooklyn, New York with my best friend Junes and her boyfriend Brian. I love my job(s) and I love my life and I'm so excited to finally share my experiences with the world....wide web that is - hahahaha!
Now let me just address the elephant in the room here and clarify that yes, I am a mule. I walk and talk just like you humans but I am proud to be a mule and wouldn't have it any other way. In terms of my career, I don't consider being a mule a disadvantage, though I can't say that casting directors are blind to it either. I submit myself for all kinds of roles and want to be considered just like any other actress, but here's what I often hear when I walk in an audition room: "Oh, you're Apples the Mule," hence my website address. Sometimes I can convince them I'm right for a part (even if it was written for a human) and sometimes I can't, but I'll continue fighting for equality, and screw anyone who stands in my way! Hahahaha! So keep checking back. I'll be updating this blog quite frequently with news about upcoming work, anecdotes from auditions and gigs, and stories from my life. You won't want to miss it! |
