Hey Everyone! Oh boy, is today an exciting day, it's May 22nd! A lot of important things have happened throughout history on May 22nd. Here is a selection: 334 BC: The Macedonian army of Alexander the Great defeated Darius III of Persia in the Battle of the Granicus. The Battle of Granicus was the first of three major battles between Alexander and the Persian Empire, and among many other battles that this handsome badass fought. 1570: The first atlas was published by Abraham Ortelius in Antwerp, Belgium. It contained 70 maps and I still can't figure out how they made maps before google satellite existed! 1803: First public library in the United States opened in Salisbury, Connecticut. I hope whoever checked out that first book didn't lose it, can you imagine how much that fine would be? 1892: Dr. Washington Sheffield invented the toothpaste tube. I guess before that toothpaste came in jars? I'm glad Dr. Sheffield invented the tube, it'd be hard to squeeze a jar - hahaha! 1967: Mister Roger's Neighborhood debuted on television. What a wonderful day that was, I watched his show almost every day when I was a little kid and I wished so much that I could go visit his neighborhood! And finally, (and maybe most importantly - hahaha!) on May 22nd, 2013 a little mule named Apples sat down in front of her computer in Brooklyn, New York, and started a blog. That's right people, it's been a whole year since I started this blog - can you believe it? I want to thank everyone who has stopped by the blog to read my anecdotes and check out my photos and videos. I have loved doing this blog and I'm excited to keep on going with it. It's been a great year but it's only the beginning. Watch out world, Apples is coming!
