Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Today I just have a quick post with another cool photo, kind of a "Throwback Thursday" post wrapped up in a "Where's Apples?" post. Take a look at the photo below and see if you can spot me:
That's me on the Santa Claus float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade a few years ago! How cool, right? Here's a cropped version so you can get a better look at my outfit:
Apples The Mule Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Doesn't that guy behind me look like Billy Bob Thornton? It wasn't him though, I swear! This was a couple years ago and I got the job by answering an ad in "Backstage" Magazine for "vertically challenged" folks to be elves on the sleigh with Santa. I thought it sounded like a blast and it totally was! This year is more low key, I'll be enjoying the parade from a comfy couch surrounded by a lot of family and friends. Sounds like heaven. Have a wonderful day and weekend everyone!
P.S. - This post is also a little bit of a preview for things to come because I freakin' LOVE Christmas and am sure that I will have several Christmas-themed posts here on the blog in December. Consider yourself warned! :-)
Hey Dudes! How's it going? Is everyone excited for Thanksgiving and a long weekend off from work? I know I am! Today I have a cool Thanksgiving-themed Throwback photo to share. It's not Thursday though so maybe we can call this a Turnback Tuesday photo. Is that a thing? It is now - hahaha! When I was about 7 or 8 my school did a Thanksgiving pageant, and I was thrilled to get to play the leading role of the turkey. What can I say, my teachers must have recognized my talents even back then. Just kidding! Anyway, here's the photo:
Apples The Mule Turkey
As the turkey I had a short song and dance routine, and it looks like my Mom caught me mid-move there. I wrote the the song myself and I don't remember the exact words but I know I sang about being the tastiest thing on the plate. I guess I was a little morbid back then - hahaha! And I don't eat turkey, obviously, so the whole thing was pretty funny. Anyway, I'd love to hear about your childhood Thanksgiving memories so drop me a line! Safe travels everyone & enjoy the time off!
Hey Everyone! Last week I mentioned in my "Ask Apples" post that I think Martha Stewart steals ideas from me. I was sorta kidding of course, but it's actually not out of the realm of possibility. You see, I actually met Ms. Stewart a few years back when I was invited to go to her house in Connecticut with a mutual friend of ours. She showed me around her property and introduced me to her dogs and even taught me how to make the most perfect mini chocolate souffles. We talked a lot about our mutual interests in cooking and crafting and it was only after that time that I would watch her tv show and see recipes similar to those I had just cooked or crafting projects like what I had just made at home. Do I think Martha Stewart put spy cameras in my apartment? Probably not. It's more likely just a case of great minds thinking alike. But hey, she's definitely a driven person who will do anything to succeed so I wouldn't put it past her. Just kidding Martha, don't come after me - hahahaha! Anyway, here's a photo from that fabulous day, one that I will definitely cherish forever. Have a great weekend everyone!
Hi, this is Apples, long time reader/first time letter writer. This is in regards to your selection of Adam Levine as the Sexiest Man Alive 2013. Nothing against Mr. Levine, he has an ok face and a semi-hot bod, but you have overlooked someone who deserved the title way more. I'm talking about Mr. Aziz Ansari, the TRUE sexiest man alive. I shouldn't have to plead my case to you but I will anyway because it's a good excuse for me to post some photos of my Number One Guy:
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit A
He knows how to dress. Look at that suit, isn't he smoldering?
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit B
He is funny as heck......
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit C
But is also a talented dramatic actor.
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit D
He's an animal lover....
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit E
and a super intelligent guy....
Sexiest Man Alive Aziz Ansari Exhibit F
who isn't afraid to show his sensitive side.
I mean really People look at them side by side, it's just no contest:
Well, I think I've made my case. And if you refuse to change your mind then please consider this my official nomination for Sexiest Man 2014. The voice of the people will be heard!
Hey Dudes! How's it going? Hope everyone had a good weekend! I have a cool video to share with you today, it's me auditioning for a role in an upcoming feature film! Most everyone knows that actors have to audition for their roles, but you may not know that sometimes those auditions don't take place in person. Sometimes the people auditioning are in a different city so you have to tape yourself doing the scene and send it to them. I had to tape an audition recently because the producers are out in LA, and I wanted to share it with you all. It's for a film called "Big Sky" and I read for the role of Rosie Mae, a prostitute who falls into a forbidden love affair with a local farmer named Pete. It takes place in the old west and will be shot on location in Montana next summer! How exciting, right? Here's my audition:
Wow, watching that back it seems a little depressing! I didn't get a full copy of the script so I'm not sure what happens in the end but I hope those crazy kids work it out. Maybe they can just move to the next town over or something, there's gotta be a way! If I get the role I'll certainly suggest that and they better listen to me or else! Hahahaha - just kidding! Have a great week everyone!
Hey Everyone! It's Thursday so you know what that means........
I've got a good one for you today. A few years back I was doing some regular extra work as a nurse on General Hospital. It was super fun, the director even gave me a couple lines here and there because he thought I was so fantastic and professional. All you General Hospital viewers might remember that there was a big fire that burned the hospital down and here's a photo of me in my nurse's scrubs on the burning set:
Apples The Mule on "General Hospital"
Don't worry, I was perfectly safe. The fire was completely contained and there were big strong firefighters everywhere! I almost wanted to pretend to be in trouble so one of them would come rescue me - hahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone, see ya next week!
The holidays are coming up so I was wondering if you have any holiday cooking or crafting tips you'd like to share.
Sincerely, Mary Stalwart
Dear "Mary Stalwart,"
Are you sure that's your real name? It sounds like an alias to me. I think we both know who you are...Martha Stewart!!! Excuse me for being paranoid but I've been convinced for years that Martha Stewart has a camera somewhere and is stealing my recipes and crafting ideas. I swear to you, I'll come up with something on my own and then it'll show up in her magazine the next month! What the heck?! But since you asked "Ms. Stalwart," I'll give you a few tips.
1. Roll your turkey in kitty litter before roasting it, it'll give it an extra crunch! 2. Decorate your holiday table with barbed wire. It'll catch the candle light in the most beautiful way - and prevent people from overeating because passing dishes is a challenge! 3. To save space in your refrigerator just dump all your leftovers out on the front lawn. Raccoons like to celebrate Thanksgiving too!
So there you go "Mary Stalwart" - three tips for the holidays. And if you're not actually Martha Stewart in disguise, well, please disregard these tips. Hahaha!
Hey Apples,
You seem pretty busy during the weekdays. How do you like to spend your weekends?
-Sarah Quince
Hi Sarah! Yes, I tend to be pretty busy Monday-Friday but there are so many cool things to do in NYC it's often hard for me to relax on the weekends! I love visiting the Met or the Natural History Museum, wandering around Prospect Park for hours or meeting up with friends and getting brunch at one of our favorite spots. Now that it's getting colder I'm starting to stay in a little more and I gotta admit that I LOVE watching football! There's something about hefty guys crammed into spandex smashing into each other that I just can't get enough of......or maybe it's the butt shots - hahahaha! To demonstrate what I'm talking about, may I present to you "NFL Butts!" You're welcome!
Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend! When I was out and about today I happened to catch some of the Veteran's Day Parade here in NYC and of course it made me think about the people in my life who have served our country. My Great Grandpa served in the navy in World War II. His name was William but everyone just called him Popcorn. It was his favorite snack and he also had a lot of energy and jumped around like a piece of popcorn in a popper. Grandpa Popcorn had a way about getting himself in the middle of things and was unknowingly part of a very famous event. I know everyone knows this photo:
But here's what that iconic photo looks like from a slightly different angle:
Yep, that's Grandpa Popcorn. Legend has it that he was a little upset at the guy in the photo because he'd had his eye on the nurse himself but he didn't make his move fast enough! Here's a little better look at Grandpa Popcorn:
Apples The Mule's Grandpa Popcorn
Quite the handsome devil, don't you think? Thank you Grandpa Popcorn and thanks everyone else for your service. Happy Veteran's Day everyone!
Hey Everyone! Don't worry, you're not nuts, it's not actually Thursday anymore but I have been so freakin' busy this week I just couldn't get my Throwback Thursday post up yesterday! I guess this is actually a Flashback Friday post, but I didn't have time to put together a new logo so this'll have to do. It's just one of those weeks, I've been a day late and a dollar short all over the place.
Anyway I wanted to make sure to get this post up because it's relevant to something that happened this week. Take a look:
I was inspired to share this because of Tuesday's election, of course. This was my one foray into politics, back in high school. I had an uncle who owned an ice cream shop so my offer wasn't just an empty campaign promise. I said I was running on the "Free Ice Cream" platform, everyone loved it. I actually won believe it or not, and the Friday after my victory my uncle brought in enough ice cream to feed the whole school. If only all politicians fulfilled their promises as clearly as I did - hahahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone, see y'all next week!
Hey Guys! Sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, I was recovering from the New York City marathon. Boy is it exhausting watching those runners run - hahahaha!
Today I'm super excited to share with you all my brand spanking new voice over demo reel. For all you non-performers out there, a voice over demo reel is similar to an acting reel, (click on the "acting reel" page to see mine!) but it's just your voice, so it helps you get work doing voice overs in commercials, radio spots, etc. I get compliments on my voice all the time, so I decided that it would be fun to pursue this kind of work. Click below to listen to my demo reel (and view a few of my headshots and modeling shots while you're at it). Have a great Tuesday everyone!
